Albarrie’s use of P84® fibers and development of P84® products began over 30 years ago. This long relationship between Albarrie and the makers of P84®, Evonik, has helped us become leaders in the specialized processing and manufacturing of P84® needlefelts. We choose to use P84® in our needlefelt filtration products based on its higher filtration efficiency, increased service life, fiber quality, and technical support over other polyimide fibers. A choice which benefits customers who purchase Albarrie P84® products.
We are pleased to offer needlefelts composed of 100% P84® fibers along with Albarrie’s own composite fabrics (Tandem™ and Meteor™), which are uniquely manufactured to suit specialized applications. Tandem™ is a multilayer fabric constructed of a high efficiency filtration P84®layer over selected base fiber substrates. Meteor™ P84® is a robust and spark resistant filtration fabric that is supported with a highly stable woven Basalt scrim for optimal filtration efficiency and enhanced mechanical and chemical attributes.

Multilobal Fiber Design – The unique multilobal cross section of the P84® fiber offers substantially more surface area compared to conventional round fibers and is the key advantage of P84®. This increased surface area results in high filtration efficiency even for sub-micron dust particles.
Temperature Stability – P84® fiber displays temperature stability over a wide range of operating conditions. This temperature stability allows for the fiber to be utilized in operating temperatures from cryogenic to high temperature applications up to 260°C.
Non-Flammable – P84® fibers do not melt. Despite their halogen free structure, they exhibit a high LOI of 38%, which means the fibers are classified as non-flammable.
Hydrolysis Stability – Even under extremely high moisture contents, P84® fabrics exhibit good stability to hydrolysis and outperforms many other filter media.
Chemical Stability – P84® provides good chemical stability to common solvents, offers high resistance to fats, oil and fuel and has a proven record of good resistance in a broad range of the pH-scale.

P84® polyimide fabrics are among the best filter media options for “hot gas” dry filtration at temperatures up to 260 °C, due to their high temperature stability and enhanced filtration performance. Many industrial filtration processes such as municipal waste incinerators, cement plants, coal fired boilers and metallurgical processes operate within a range between 100 °C and 260 °C making them ideally suited for P84® filter media.
Enhanced filtration performance and cost savings can be achieved with the use of P84® filter media in these applications as compared to fabrics constructed with conventional round fibers or membrane laminated fabrics. Enhanced filtration performance is achieved by greater dust capture on the surface of the media and less blinding of the filter media over time resulting in less frequent bag changeouts as well as reduced maintenance and operating costs. The consistent filtration performance of P84® filter media helps to ensure that discharge criteria can be met over the life span of the filter and that peaks or surcharges in the process can be managed effectively and within allowable limits.
