Albarrie is the successor to its founding parents in North America and Europe with a history tracing back to the 17th century. Albarrie is here because we have been fortunate in receiving the benefits that we have inherited from the companies and organizations that preceded us, including:
Kenyons of Lancashire, England. (1664 - 1968)
Albany Felt, of Albany, New York, U.S.A., and the Standish Family. (1895 - 1969)
Nordiska Maskin Felt, of Halmstadt, Sweden, and the Westerberg Family. (1905 - 1969)
Appleton Wire, of Appleton, Wisconsin, U.S.A., and the Buchanan Family. (1895 -1969)
Heathcoat and Company (Holdings) Limited, of Devon, England. (1808 - 2000)

1986 Newly Rebuilt Facility
Shortly before 4:30 pm on Friday, May 31, 1985 the lights went out in Barrie; the result of a rare power cut. What few, if any, knew was that the city was blacked out because 40 kilometers south of the city a Tornado had brought down a main hydro transmission line. Within a half hour the twister, spawned by a vicious storm, had reached Barrie after leaving behind a trail of destruction. When the tornado hit Barrie witnesses recall the sudden fury; a huge black cloud that twisted and sucked up poles, cars and whole houses.
Albarrie was part of that destruction.
